The predecessor of Kim Do Hotel is the Grand Hotel des Nations built by the French more than 80 years ago. Grand Hotel Des Nations is built in the style of French architecture and consists of 4 floors. At that time, the ground floor of the hotel housed the ticket office of China Airlines; The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors had only 21 bedrooms. By 1966, an architectural block consisting of 10 floors, located at the rear was built. Two years later, the new building was completed, bringing the hotel’s total number of bedrooms to 131. The hotel was renamed Kim Do and the ground floor of the hotel houses Kim Do Dai Tuu Gia restaurant, a famous restaurant in Saigon at that time.
Before the liberation of the South, Kim Do Hotel was a popular address for international guests, especially USAID employees. After April 30, 1975, the City Organizing Committee took over the Kim Do Hotel. More than a year later, in October 1976, the hotel was assigned to the management of Ho Chi Minh City Hotel Company. By 1980, Kim Do was under the Department of Food and Hotel of Ho Chi Minh City. Since May 1994, Kim Do Hotel has been a member of Saigontourist.
